The Peninsula Chicago presents our newest art exhibit, Martina Nehrling Selected Works. Selected for this exhibition are works from a variety of series exploring the atmosphere of place, time, and the shape and feeling of thought in relation to what it means to be here. This installation is the latest iteration of Art in Resonance, The Peninsula Hotels’ global contemporary art program dedicated to being an originator of culture through its engagement with artists who push the boundaries of their mediums, in works that engage the senses.

About Martina Nehrling:

"Seduced by the formal complexity of color I revel in its emotive slipperiness and enjoy mining its controversial decorativeness. The inextricability of these aspects unique to color continually spurs my engagement as I weave visual rhythms in patterns akin to currents and eddies, note taking, pixilation and mapping. Tuned to the vivid and continuous absurdities of daily life I employ highly saturated color for its insistence, its unapologetic hysteria, its mirth and its madness. I use multiple distinct brushstrokes for their synthetic, staccato quality and graphic directness. In this language of tensile maximalism I explore what it means to be here."
